Bergen is Norway's rain capital, and this drive embraces it. Filmed in the early hours of a December Sunday, it heads into the heart of the city on glistening wet roads, with just a little snow scattered around — Bergen's winters being famously mild and damp rather than deep-frozen.
What makes this one special is the silence. At this hour on a Sunday the streets are all but empty, and you get to see Bergen at its most peaceful: shop windows lit but unattended, tram lines shining in the wet, and the surrounding seven mountains brooding over a city that hasn't woken up yet. It's a moody, atmospheric drive — the opposite of the busy summer Bergen most visitors know — and there's real beauty in the calm.
This is Bergen with the volume turned down. Press play for the quiet morning drive, and find more of my Bergen and west-coast routes on my channel.
