If you had to pick one drive to show someone why people fall for Norway, this would make a strong case. It runs along the finest part of the Hardangerfjord in the west of the country, captured on a perfect spring day with clear blue skies overhead and the water mirror-calm below.
The Hardanger region is famous for two things above all — its deep, branching fjord and the blossoming fruit orchards that line its shores each spring — and this longer, 25-minute drive lets you soak in both at an unhurried pace. The combination of crisp spring light, snow still capping the higher peaks and the bright green of the season getting underway down by the water makes for some of the most beautiful scenery the country has to offer.
This is the drive to put on the big screen and simply enjoy. Press play to road-trip the Hardangerfjord, and find more of my fjord routes across my channel.
