This is a long, satisfying drive up through the heart of southern Norway, climbing from Evje all the way to the mountain village of Hovden. The route follows the Setesdal valley, one of the most distinctive and tradition-rich corners of the country, gradually trading gentle farmland for higher, wilder mountain scenery.
The full trip runs around two hours, but this film has been edited down to a flowing 40 minutes of the best of it, with music added to carry you along. That means you get the journey's real arc — the slow transformation from green lowland valley near Evje to the open, rugged high country around Hovden, a popular base for hiking and skiing — without the dull stretches in between. It's an absorbing watch that captures the sense of steadily ascending into the mountains.
